Lethbridge County to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge County has confirmed it will be recognizing the new statutory holiday later this month.
September 30 has been deemed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Lethbridge County Reeve Lorne Hickey said, “we recognize the importance of commemorating National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and honouring survivors, families, and communities impacted by the tragedy of residential schools.”
“I encourage everyone to take time on September 30 to learn about and reflect on the impact residential schools have had on Indigenous peoples and what we can do moving forward in reconciliation.”
