Hurricanes trim pre-season roster, reassign three players
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have made some changes to their pre-season roster.
16-year-old forward Logan Wormald has been reassigned to the Yale Hockey Academy, where he’ll play for their Under-18 program. He was initially selected by the ‘Canes in the third round (45th overall) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. The Langley, B.C. product skated in Lethbridge’s two pre-season games last weekend, where he posted a minus-1 rating. He totaled four points (two goals, two assists) along with eight penalty minutes in five games with the Yale Academy’s Under-18 prep team last season.
Fellow forward Nolan Viesner will suit up alongside Wormald at the Yale Hockey Academy. From Kamloops, the 16-year-old Viesner was signed by the Hurricanes after going undrafted in the Prospects Draft. He also suited up in two pre-season games for Lethbridge, posting a minus-1 rating. In five games last year at the Under-17 level with Yale, he scored six goals, dished out four assists and collected six penalty minutes.
16-year-old Dustin Renas was selected by Lethbridge 104th overall (fifth round) in the 2020 draft. The Saskatoon-born forward will play for the Warman Wildcats Under-18 AAA program in 2021-2022. In laced up his skates in two exhibition games for the ‘Canes, going pointless with a minus-2 rating. Last year, he appeared in seven games with the Wildcats, posting one assist.
