Multiple temperature records set in southern Alberta Tuesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – If it seemed abnormally warm in southern Alberta on Tuesday, it was.

That’s because multiple municipalities broke temperature records on October 5.

The Lethbridge area hit a high of 28 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of 27.8 set over 100 years ago, in 1902.

Below is a list of other records broken in southern Alberta:

  • Bow Island Area: 29.7 degrees Celsius (previous record of 25.7 set in 2004)
  • Brooks Area: 28 degrees Celsius (previous record of 27.2 set in 1958)
  • Medicine Hat Area: 30.4 degrees Celsius (previous record of 29.4 set in 1899)
  • Milk River Area: 28.3 degrees Celsius (previous record of 25.8 set in 2003)
  • Onefour Area: 29.4 degrees Celsius (previous record of 27 set in 1980)
  • Taber Area: 29.4 degrees Celsius (previous record of 27 set in 1980)

As for the week ahead, Environment Canada is calling for more seasonal temperatures in Lethbridge with an anticipated high of 16 degrees Celsius Saturday and 13 degrees Celsius on Sunday, before showers and a high of 8 degrees Celsius on Thanksgiving Monday.
