Active cases fall, 916 new COVID cases provincially Thursday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Thursday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

916 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 313,201. Of those, 13,423 cases are active while 296,848 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 115 people tested positive with 34 in Lethbridge. Provincially, active cases have fallen significantly.

Since yesterday’s update, 29 Albertans died from COVID with three new in the South Zone. To date, 2,930 Albertans have died as a result of the virus.

The three deaths in the South Zone were for a resident of North Lethbridge and two people from Cardston County.

Provincially, 1,016 patients are currently hospitalized including 231 who have been admitted to intensive care.

  • Calgary Zone – 117,032 cases, 3,466 active
    • 232 in hospital, 70 in ICU
    • 814 deaths (four new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 99,070 cases, 3,149 active
    • 318 in hospital, 108 in ICU
    • 1,247 deaths (six new)
  • North Zone – 41,752 cases, 2,612 active
    • 158 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 317 deaths (six new)
  • Central Zone – 34,089 cases, 2,645 active
    • 183 in hospital, 14 in ICU
    • 318 deaths (10 new)
  • South Zone – 21,206 cases, 1,534 active
    • 125 in hospital, 25 in ICU
    • 234 deaths (three new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

  • Lethbridge – 6,555 cases (34 new), 422 active, 50 deaths (one new)
    • West Lethbridge – 2,384 cases (12 new), 144 active, five deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,170 cases (nine new), 140 active, 17 deaths (one new)
    • South Lethbridge – 1,993 cases (13 new), 140 active, 28 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,241 cases (12 new), 340 active, 67 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,052 cases (nine new), 86 active, 21 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,787 cases (seven new), 114 active, 16 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,681 cases (eight new), 122 active, 29 deaths (two new)
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,168 cases (16 new), 138 active, 11 deaths
  • Cypress County – 807 cases (three new), 51 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 692 cases (five new), 60 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 577 cases (nine new), 41 active, nine deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 499 cases (two new), 44 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 436 cases (three new), 41 active, five deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 314 cases (four new), 39 active, five deaths
