General voting day in Alberta’s 2021 municipal elections set for Monday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Monday marks general voting day in the 2021 municipal elections across Alberta.

Electors have been able to cast their ballots in advance polls over the past few weeks, but tomorrow is when those who haven’t voted yet can have their voice heard.

Polls will be open across the province Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Lethbridge, there are 14 polling stations available for voters. A map of each location can be seen here. The City of Lethbridge has also made the drive-through polling station at Exhibition Park available on the October 18 general election day. Eligible voters can cast their ballots at any location this year.

Elections Lethbridge will also have voting stations set up at 21 designated institutions, such as assisted living facilities and seniors’ residences. Election results will become official in Lethbridge at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 22.

Eligible voters must complete an Elector Register form in order to vote, which can be done in-person at the polling station or done in advance by presenting a hard copy of the form, available here, at the polls.

To register, voters have to be:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A Canadian citizen
  • A resident of the municipality they’re voting in on Election Day
  • Able to provide authorized identification

Acceptable identification includes a driver’s license or an Alberta Identification Card that establishes both the elector’s name and current address. Photo identification is not required. More information for those who don’t have ID or are not sure what is acceptable is available here.
