Belinda Crowson “absolutely honoured” to be re-elected to Lethbridge City Council

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Belinda Crowson is set to serve her second term on city council.

In Monday’s municipal elections, the unofficial results show that Crowson received the second-most votes at 10,738, or about 6.51 per cent.

She told LNN that she felt absolutely honoured to have the faith and trust of the residents of Lethbridge to continue doing her work as a councillor.

After the swearing-in ceremony this coming Monday, the councillor-elect looks forward to meeting some of her new peers and sitting down to determine a strategic plan.

Following that, she wants to be able to do something similar to what took place at the end of WWI and WWII but for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They had a Thanksgiving celebration, but also a commemoration for the people they had lost and to come together as a community. I think that is something that’ll be absolutely vital. Of course, I don’t know when that would be, I don’t know when the pandemic would be over, but I’m calling it a day of community sorrow and I think it is something we need as a community – a chance to grieve for what we’ve lost and the people we’ve lost, and a chance to rebuild and work together.”

Another priority of hers is to redraft the police commission bylaw and address other related governance issues.

Crowson also wants to continue to keep the public actively engaged with the goings-on of city council. She frequently posts council agendas to her Facebook page and sees what people think about the issues at hand.
