Northern lights to be visible in most of Canada this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The paths of trick-or-treaters being lit by aurora borealis? Sign us up!

AuroraMAX, a northern lights observatory, shared an image on Facebook, saying that, “If your region is shaded green on the map, be on the lookout for northern lights Oct 30-31!”

The map showed nearly all regions of the country, including Southern Alberta, shaded in green during the Halloween weekend.

The northern lights were visible in the region just a couple of weeks ago and it looks like we will have another chance to see them.

If you want to view the lights for yourself, AuroraMAX suggests finding a place free of light pollution, as bright city lights make low-intensity auroras difficult to see.

As well, check the weather forecasts in your area. As of noon on Friday, Environment Canada says Lethbridge should be expecting clear skies Saturday and Sunday night.

Alternatively, you can watch the aurora borealis online here.
