AHS reports 315 new COVID cases in Alberta as active infections continue to fall

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

315 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 324,514. Of those, 6,911 cases are active while 314,484 people have recovered.

7,544 tests were completed over the past day.

Due to discrepancies in the daily numbers for the South Zone, we are unable to say how many new positive tests there were for the region or in each local community.

Active infections in the South Zone fell by 46.

Since yesterday’s update, eight Albertans died from COVID with three in the Calgary Zone, two in the Central Zone, and one each in the South, Edmonton, and North Zones. To date, 3,119 people in the province died as a result of the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a resident of Medicine Hat.

Provincially, 691 patients are currently hospitalized including 159 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 119,911 cases, 1,846 active
    • 151 in hospital, 41 in ICU
    • 836 deaths (three new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 101,592 cases, 1,540 active
    • 230 in hospital, 74 in ICU
    • 1,287 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 44,249 cases, 1,492 active
    • 92 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 358 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 36,373 cases, 1,274 active
    • 140 in hospital, 17 in ICU
    • 364 deaths (two new)
  • South Zone – 22,340 cases, 752 active
    • 78 in hospital, 18 in ICU
    • 274 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the last day:

  • Lethbridge – 6,914 cases, 240 active, 60 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,521 cases, 82 active, seven deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,279 cases, 74 active, 21 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,107 cases, 84 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,433 cases, 107 active, 78 deaths (one new)
  • Brooks – 2,083 cases, 22 active, 23 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,910 cases, 80 active, 18 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,788 cases, 78 active, 37 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,227 cases (two new), 41 active, 15 deaths
  • Cypress County – 839 cases, 27 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 752 cases, 39 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 622 cases (one new), 32 active, nine deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 534 cases, 24 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 466 cases, 19 active, six deaths
