LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Municipal World has recognized the Chief Administrative Officer at Lethbridge County.

Ann Mitchell has been granted the Women of Influence in Local Government Award by the publication.

They have spent much of 2021 celebrating women in prominent roles in local governments with Mitchell being the latest recipient.

“Ann is a seasoned CAO who excels at setting the vision and empowering her team to succeed and exceed,” said Municipal World Publisher and Editor Scott Vokey. “We are very pleased to recognize such a wise, effective, and compassionate leader.”

Mitchell hopes that this award will help to garner a greater understanding of not only what CAOs do, but their importance in local government.

She is a third-generation CAO with both her father and grandfather holding that title.

“As someone who is passionate about municipal government and continues to strive for improvements, this award is dear to me. I have been fortunate to work in this sector with so many phenomenal leaders, both politically and administratively,” says Mitchell.

Mitchell has been Lethbridge County’s CAO since 2018, having previously had a similar role in three Ontario municipalities – Township of Prince, Township of Pelee, and Municipality of Sioux Lookout.

Reeve Tory Campbell says he is proud of Mitchell for having earned this recognition.

“This is certainly a significant accomplishment and Lethbridge County is fortunate to have a leader like Ann. Since her arrival at the County a few years ago, she has continually striven to improve our organization for the benefit of our citizens and businesses.”

Mitchell completed her Master’s Degree this summer in Leadership from Royal Roads University with a focus on local government.
