Lethbridge Eagles hosting Memorial Game in honour of Emily Middagh

Nov 24, 2021 | 11:21 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – On November 27, the Lethbridge Eagles will be hosting a Memorial Game to commemorate a lost teammate and continue the important conversation around mental health.

On Facebook, organizers said, “This past season the team, both players and staff, were deeply saddened by the loss of a former player, Emily Middagh. February 2021, Emily, 22 and in her last season with the Eagles, lost her battle with mental health.”

The hockey game is being hosted at the ATB Centre and admission is free.

All funds raised will be matched by Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association and will be donated to two organizations, Youth One, and Companion Paws.

“Youth One is a local non-profit organization that is a destination for youth of Lethbridge for mentorship, support, and mental health resources,” the page reads.

“Companion Paws” is an organization that provides dogs with a second chance and is heavily connected to Emily’s journey. The Eagles organization says game day will include a silent auction, 50/50 draw, and great competition.

Near the bottom of the posting on Facebook, the operator of the page wrote a brief reminder of why the game is being played.

“We miss Em every day on, and off the ice. We invite you to join us at the ATB Centre on the 27th to cheer us on as we play for Em!”
