Pronghorns’ Haily Weaver named Canada West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A University of Lethbridge Pronghorn has been named the Canada West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Haily Weaver’s back-to-back double-doubles helped the ‘Horns to a pair of victories. Weaver recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds against the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday, November 26, helping Lethbridge pick up the 65-56 win. That night, the fourth-year forward from Edmonton scored five points in the fourth quarter as the ‘Horns outscored the Cougars 22-7.

The following evening, she recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds, along with four steals and a pair of assists in a 74-48 victory for the U of L. The win moved Lethbridge up to third place in the Central Division.

Weaver’s two double-doubles were her first and second of the season.

The U of L women’s basketball club is back on the court Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4 in Lethbridge against MacEwan University. The ‘Horns are 2-4 on the season and MacEwan holds a record of 1-3. Both games will be available on Canada West TV, presented by Co-op.

Following this weekend’s pair of matchups, the Pronghorns go on their winter break and return to the court on Friday, January 21 when they’ll host the Mount Royal University Cougars.
