South Zone saw just 13 new COVID cases/day over the weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics from the past three days.

Note: Due to lower COVID-19 case counts in recent weeks, LNN will only be reporting COVID numbers twice per week on Mondays and Fridays. Should the situation change, we will go back to daily reporting.

Over the last three days, 788 cases were confirmed across the province or a daily average of 263. To date, there have been 337,180 positive tests in Alberta.

With 20,509 tests completed in that time, the positivity rate was 3.8 per cent.

4,373 cases are active while 329,543 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 39 people contracted the virus, or 13 per day. That includes 14 in Lethbridge and 11 in Medicine Hat.

Active cases regionally fell by 32.

Since Friday’s update, five Albertans died from COVID with two each in the Central and North Zones and one in the Edmonton Zone. To date, 3,263 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 366 patients are currently hospitalized including 72 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 124,440 cases, 1,748 active
    • 97 in hospital, 17 in ICU
    • 852 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 104,552 cases, 1,225 active
    • 126 in hospital, 41 in ICU
    • 1,319 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 46,533 cases, 566 active
    • 42 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 401 deaths (two new)
  • Central Zone – 38,309 cases, 530 active
    • 64 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 402 deaths (two new)
  • South Zone – 23,304 cases, 297 active
    • 37 in hospital, five in ICU
    • 289 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past three days:

  • Lethbridge – 7,222 cases (14 new), 106 active, 62 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,641 cases (four new), 35 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,378 cases (three new), 33 active, 22 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,196 cases (seven new), 38 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,595 cases (11 new), 72 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,101 cases, five active, 24 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,992 cases (eight new), 28 active, 20 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,864 cases (one new), 19 active, 40 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,302 cases (two new), 15 active, 17 deaths
  • Cypress County – 864 cases, seven active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 794 cases (two new), 11 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 657 cases, nine active, 11 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 576 cases, two active, seven deaths
  • County of Newell – 515 cases, 13 active, eight deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 345 cases, two active, five deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 183 cases (one new), five active, one death
