Police evacuate Park Place Mall in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Park Place Mall was evacuated by the Lethbridge Police Service on Boxing Day and will remain closed for the day.

The LPS stated that at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 26 there was an altercation between several individuals at the Lethbridge shopping centre. During the encounter, police say one of the individuals involved discharged “what appeared to be bear spray”.

As a result, the mall was evacuated for the safety of shoppers and staff members.

The LPS is asking residents to avoid the mall area, and no further details are available at this time.

Park Place Mall later noted however, that it will remain closed for the remainder of the day and will resume its regular operating hours on Monday, December 27.
