Canes lose 5-4 in shootout to Oil Kings

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings were victorious Sunday defeating the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a shootout.

A late push in the third period led to the Oil Kings tying up the game to send it to overtime.

The game’s score summary is as follows.

First period:

Justin Hall got the scoring started for the Canes burying the only goal in the first frame.

After an action-packed second period, the Hurricanes led 3-2.

Dylan Guenther and Cole Miller for the Oil Kings scored within two minutes of one another to tie up the game at 4-4.

The final ten minutes of the game was scoreless so the two teams were set for overtime.

Overtime was less eventful as no one scored sending the game to be decided in a shootout.

Oil Kings’ Dylan Guenther and Jake Neighbours both scored in the shootout to give Edmonton the win.

The Hurricanes are back in action against Red Deer on January 21.
