Standoff man charged with multiple firearms related offences

STANDOFF, AB – A man from Standoff faces multiple charges following an incident with Blood Tribe police.

On January 31, at around 1:30 p.m., officers with the Blood Tribe Police Service responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male causing mischief at a residence near Standoff.

As officers arrived on scene, they were notified by the homeowner that the man had discharged a firearm inside the residence before police arrived. The remaining occupants of the home were evacuated, and the man had barricaded himself in the residence.

Police said there were no reported injuries. With the assistance of the RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Service, the man was taken into custody without incident.

34-year-old John Davis now faces multiple firearms related charges. Blood Tribe Police say Davis is in custody and will have a bail hearing on Wednesday, February 2.
