LUDWIG “VIC” KARCH of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2022.
Vic was born in Bönnigheim, Germany on June 21, 1948. When he was six years old his mom, brother, Rolf and sister, Elizabeth traveled to Canada by boat. Once they arrived in Quebec, the family boarded a train car for Lethbridge where his father was waiting. They all worked sugar beets for the Gorzitza family until they moved into a two-room home “one mile west and one mile north” of Kipp. In 1955, they moved once again to Fellger’s to spend more time in the fields. Vic’s love of plants and the Karch family work ethic started in those fields and continued till his passing.
Vic met Karen at the Home and Garden Trade Show in 1994 and the two worked together to grow their business, Wild Rose Horticultural Services. From riding in the aerial bucket to shoveling snow, pruning trees and designing beautiful outdoor spaces, they did it all together. Vic and Karen shared many wonderful moments golfing, traveling, and spending time with family. They were truly lucky having each other in their lives.
He is lovingly remembered by his partner, Karen; children, Jennifer (Stan) Tiffin, Jayme (Chad) Moorman, and Matthew (Joni) Karch; a crew of wonderful grandchildren, Paige (Ty) Tiffin, Eligh Moorman, and Victor, Lucy, and Henry Karch; sister, Elizabeth (Bill Wong) Klonin and families and brother, Ralph (Fran) Karch and families.
Vic was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Rolf.
He was dearly loved and his fun-loving spirit, great laugh, jokes and stories will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
At Vic’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life.
