Memorial hockey game raises over $15k for local and national causes

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Eagles hockey team was able to honour the memory of a former player.

One year ago, the team – which competes in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League – said that player Emily Middagh had passed away.

On November 27, 2021, the club hosted its first memorial game in Middagh’s honour.

Earlier this month, the Eagles said they were able to raise $15,500 from the game. In a post on social media, the Eagles stated, “we are extremely proud and excited to announce that in partnership with key sponsors, Cabinet Expressions and Sentinel Storage we were able to raise $7,250.”

“This amount was then matched by Lethbridge Minor Hockey for a total of $15,500.”

Funds raised will support Youth One and Companion Paws Canada.

“The Eagles family would like to acknowledge the fantastic support that we received putting together this event. The businesses and individuals who stepped up to support this cause were heartwarming.”

The team said it plans to make the memorial game an annual event.
