Sirens in Lviv, Ukraine – LNN

Lviv, Ukraine – A relative of an LNN staff member who lives in Lviv, Ukraine, says she woke up to sirens this morning spreading throughout the city.

Lviv is a city on the west side of Ukraine near the Poland border.

Yulia Modna said, “We woke up this morning and heard from news that the war started at night.”

At 5:00 a.m. Eastern European Time, Russia officially invaded Ukraine, attacking military objects and airfields across the country.

Modna says people in Lviv are feeling stressed, scared and baffled, but they believe in a peaceful future.

“People try not to panic, but it’s hard. We only want peace. We love our country and pray for it and for all people.”

She says the phones aren’t working very well right now, but she has food, medicine, and warm clothes.

“We are trying to do what we can to stay calm. In Lviv, we don’t hear the bombs at this time, because of our location that is distanced from Russia.”

“The situation is very difficult, but we pray for peace. We ask you to share the news to your followers and speak about Ukraine.”

She asks people to demand help from the Canadian government for Ukraine.
