AHS now allowing walk-in pediatric COVID-19 vaccinations

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is increasing availability for walk-in pediatric immunization against COVID-19.

In the South Zone, COVID pediatric immunization walk-in appointment times can be made for families with children aged five to 11.

The province says, from March 2 to 16, local AHS vaccination clinics have expanded appointment availability for weekdays, evenings, and on weekends to accommodate pediatric walk-ins and appointments.

Pharmacies will also extend their hours to administer pediatric vaccines to children. Albertans can find a participating pharmacy at ab.bluecross.ca.

“Parents or guardians are asked to bring their child’s Alberta Health Care card if they have one as well as identification that proves the child’s age. Both parents and children age two and older will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site for your immunization,” the AHS release states.

Additionally, if a guardian cannot be in attendance for the appointment and the child is under 18 years of age, a consent form can be signed and provided.

Lastly, AHS says that “if you are experiencing symptoms, stay home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.”

Parents and guardians can book appointments for children age five and older online through the Alberta vaccine booking system.
