Police say online harassment campaign appears to be targeting Russian Calgarians
CALGARY, AB – The invasion of Ukraine appears to be having consequences for Calgarians of Russian descent.
Calgary police say that there have been multiple reports from the public since Tuesday about what is believed to be hate speech and harassment targeting Russian Calgarians on social media.
The service says patrol officers, as well as its hate crimes and extremism team, are investigating.
Hate crimes are those motivated by bias, prejudice, or hate based on a number of factors such as race, ethnicity, and language.
