COVID hospitalizations drop across Alberta Thursday

Mar 10, 2022 | 4:38 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Thursday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

552 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 530,288. Of those, 6,689 cases are active while 519,607 people have recovered.

Provincially, 1,067 patients are currently hospitalized including 76 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks a decrease of 20 for hospitalizations and two for ICU compared to our most recent report on Wednesday.

With 3,041 tests conducted in that time, the positivity rate was 18.1 per cent.

It should be noted that, on January 10, the province limited the number of people who can get a PCR test from AHS for COVID-19 to only those in high-risk settings. This likely means that the number of people who have actually contracted COVID since then would be higher than what is being reported by the province.

In the South Zone, 58 people tested positive with 26 in Lethbridge.

Active infections in the province fell by 189.

Since yesterday’s update, six Albertans died from COVID with zero new in the South Zone. To date, 3,992 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

AHS has released the following vaccine outcomes:
