City removing “odorous material” from Wastewater Treatment Plant

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Those accessing the areas near Lethbridge’s Wastewater Treatment Plant might be able to unplug their noses soon.

The city says the annual spring sludge haul is underway at the facility.

“The focus of this year’s haul will be to remove any odorous material that remains evident to residents in the area.”

Staff will be using odor-neutralizing additives to help minimize the issue.

“Residents should expect a continued reduction in the odours being emitted from the Wastewater Treatment Plant lagoons.”

The current strategy will be reassessed in early May once the haul is complete. Officials will reassess the matter then to determine the next steps.
