Neil Skjodt trial rescheduled for August/September 2022

At the time, Crown Prosecutor Sheena Campbell said that it likely would not be until December 2022 that five trial days would be available.

Appearing again on Tuesday, March 29, however, it appears that the court’s schedule is more open than anticipated.

The trial coordinator was able to show five times before the end of this year that the trial could proceed on. The parties agreed on holding the trial from August 29 to September 2, 2022.

Several police officers were set to take the stand this week, but given that some of them might be on scheduled leaves during the summer, they will have the option of testifying via video instead.

Given the large number of witnesses expected to take part in the trial, Campbell says they might no longer need some of the officers who were expected to give similar evidence.

Skjodt faces one count of careless driving.

LPS reports that, on April 13, 2020, a collision occurred in which a vehicle travelling southbound on Aquitania Boulevard West made a right-hand turn into the westbound lanes of Whoop-Up Drive.

Two boys, who were crossing the street with their father, were struck by the vehicle.

A 10-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries that resulted in his death, while a nine-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.

Several family members were in attendance in court on Monday. Justice Hironaka apologized to them for the delay in trial proceedings.
