Apr 5, 2022 | 6:41 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is looking for help.

Applications are open to volunteer with the Nature Centre, with no previous experience required. Officials say adult, family, group and youth volunteers are welcome to apply and will be provided with training. At this time, opportunities to volunteer include front-line customer service work with visitors at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s exhibit rooms and on the living roof.

They’re also looking for people to volunteer with trail monitoring and providing general support to the Nature Centre’s daily operations. A minimum of four to six hours each month, for a minimum of six months is recommended to make the most of the experience.

Curtis Goodman, Resource Development Coordinator said, “volunteering in the Exhibit Room is a great social activity with lots of opportunities to connect with visitors from around the world.”

“Our team of volunteers act as ambassadors for the City of Lethbridge, helping our visitors connect with the best our community has to offer.”

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be hosting new volunteer information sessions in the Nature Centre’s Community Room for those interested in helping out. Those sessions take place:

  • April 7 at 10:30 a.m.
  • May 10 at 1:00 p.m.
  • June 6 at 10:30 a.m.

Prospective volunteers are encouraged to contact Curtis Goodman at Curtis.Goodman@lethbridge.ca or by calling 403-320-3064.

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre is open year-round. Hours of operation for April are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The current main gallery exhibition features ‘Snakes Alive’, highlighting local snake species and the unique aspect of snake biology.
