LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking for your help in finding a person accused of using fake money

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, police received a report of a woman successfully passing counterfeit $50 and $100 bills at a business in Park Place Mall.

The counterfeit cash was not detected until the end of the business shift.

The woman was described as Caucasian, in her 20s, with blond hair and wearing a black jacket.

An LPS release states that β€œShe was seen in possession of a large amount of currency, and investigators believe there is a possibility that further attempts could be made to pass additional counterfeit bills at other businesses.”

The particular counterfeit bills in question were smaller in size than normal bills. Both held the same serial number, neither consisted of polymer material, and neither had other security features in place including raised ink or appropriate portraits.

Anyone with more information is asked to call LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file #22007049, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-6488.
