Two arrested near Nanton with combined 23 warrants

NANTON, AB – RCMP have put two people behind bars on a wide range of charges.

At approximately 8:15 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Nanton and Claresholm RCMP received a complaint about a suspicious occupied vehicle on the side of Range Road 281 near Nanton.

Upon arrival, officers found a man and a woman sleeping in a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, noting that it had a significant amount of collision damage.

Through their investigation, RCMP determined that the two had several outstanding warrants for their arrests.

They learned that the suspect vehicle was involved in a hit and run earlier that morning.

The suspects were allegedly in possession of various types and quantities of illicit drugs including suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

Ashley Quilty, 29, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle without a subsisting driver’s license, and improper permit use of a license plate on a motor vehicle.

She was found to be on a release order and had seven outstanding warrants for her arrest.

Quilty was released from custody on a $750 bail and a promise to appear in court.

Clayton Jordan, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a smoke grenade.

He had 16 outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Jordan was released from custody on a $500 bail and a promise to appear in court.

Both are scheduled to appear in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on May 4, 2022.
