Blood Tribe Police arrest two on drug trafficking and child endangerment charges

BLOOD TRIBE, AB – Officers have apprehended two men on charges related to the drug trade while service providers aim to protect two young children.

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, the Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS) and RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at a home on the First Nation.

Officers seized 32.2 grams of carfentanil and 1.1 grams of methamphetamine.

Two young children were found in the home. Blood Tribe Child Protective Services are assisting with the investigation.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene. Their names are being withheld by BTPS to protect the identities of the children.

A 29-year-old man from the Blood Tribe is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing a police officer, and causing a child to be drug endangered. He was also apprehended on three outstanding warrants. The 29-year-old was held in custody on a cash bail and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Court in May.

A 33-year-old man from Calgary is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of causing a child to be drug endangered. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Court in May.
