Emergency preparedness in focus across Canada this week

May 3, 2022 | 10:59 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – This week marks Emergency Preparedness Week.

The annual nation-wide initiative is on until Saturday, May 7. The theme for this year’s event is Be Ready for Anything. The week aims to encourage Canadians to become better prepared for any emergency they could face, and to make the preparation part of a regular routine.

On Wednesday, May 4, Alert Ready will issue a test message to residents in certain provinces and territories across the country. In Alberta, that test message will be issued at 1:55 p.m.

In 2021, residents in Alberta were encouraged to participate in a survey to identify how prepared they are for emergency situations. The results found that Albertans are quick to work together to assist during an emergency.

More information about emergency preparedness is available at the City of Lethbridge website.
