City Council approves new Public Places Bylaw
LETHBRIDGE, AB — Lethbridge City Council voted unanimously in favour of the new Public Places Bylaw on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Council says the bylaw sets a clear foundation of community expectations for respectful behaviour in public.
The bylaw comes into effect July 1, 2022 and aims to reduce undesirable behaviours, such as:
- Littering
- Graffiti
- Public urination
- Spitting
- Fighting/Bullying
- Panhandling
- Using weapons or fireworks
Deputy Mayor, Jenn Schmidt-Rempel says the bylaw is meant to be used as a tool to educate people.
