Traffic snarls as city crews begin summer road work

May 14, 2022 | 4:30 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB — Drivers in south Lethbridge can expect delays as the city starts its annual road maintenance program. The work started Saturday, May 14, 2022 and traffic is already getting backed up because of it.

The majority of the road work will be taking place in south Lethbridge neighbourhoods, including a large portion of Mayor Magrath Drive South.

On Mayor Magrath Drive, work is expected to take place on both the northbound and southbound lanes at various points from South Parkside Drive to 22 Avenue South.

Downtown Lethbridge has already been dealing with the 3 Avenue South Reconstruction project, and drivers can expect 4 Avenue South to get a similar treatment between Scenic Drive and Stafford Drive. Also, 7 Street South from 6 Avenue South to 3 Avenue South will be repaved.

The City is also going to be making improvements to various sidewalks, as well as completing utility work.

You can view the entire list of roads scheduled to receive improvements this year on the City of Lethbridge Website.
