Boettiger stated, “it is an honour to be drafted by the Hurricanes fourth overall. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Lethbridge family and making a run at the Memorial Cup in 2026.”

Defenseman Clarke Nehmens was taken 41st overall by Lethbridge. The 14-year-old from Chino Hills, California appeared in 51 games during the 2021-2022 season with Shattuck St. Mary’s 14U AAA club, totaling 44 points (12 goals, 32 assists), along with 15 penalty minutes. The right-shot defenseman racked up 21 points (14 goals, seven assists) with 34 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks 13U AAA team in 2020-2021.

General Manager of the Hurricanes, Peter Anholt said, “we believe we’ve added two really talented players to our group today.”

“We’ve heard really good things about Boettiger from scouts and goalie coaches that we’ve talked to and are excited to add him to our group. With Nehmens, we like his ability and think there is some upside while he already has a good frame.”
