13 players selected by Hurricanes in 2022 WHL Prospects Draft
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes selected 13 players in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, May 19.
Lethbridge’s first round selection came at 11th overall. The team chose defenseman William Sharpe. The 2007-born skater played in 21 games in 2021-2022 with the Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep team, where he totalled 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) along with 38 penalty minutes. He finished fourth in the league among rearguards. The South Delta, B.C.-born player added five points (two goals, three assists) in three playoff games at the U15 level.
Sharpe also skated in four regular season matchups with the Yale U17 team, in addition to three post-season games with the Yale U18 club. He racked up five points (three goals and two assists) in five games with the Pro Hockey Selects U15 team at the WSI U15 showcase.
With the Hurricanes’ second pick, they selected forward Kash Andresen 33rd overall. Originally from Saskatoon, Andresen spent the 2021-2022 season with the Saskatoon Bandits U15 AA club, where he scored 25 goals and dished out 32 assists, along with 50 penalty minutes in 31 games.
