LAC STE. ANNE, AB. – A stolen school bus was involved in a series of collisions west of Edmonton on Friday, June 3, 2022.

RCMP say the school bus first collided with a barrier truck at a construction site. Then it drove over an unoccupied pick-up truck, before ending up in a ditch just west of the intersection between Highway 43 and Highway 33 near Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta.

According to police, no children were on the bus at the time of the incident, and no one in the construction crew was injured.

The RCMP says the driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

Further investigation by Parkland RCMP revealed the school bus had been stolen near Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton earlier that day. The RCMP says the school bus was left locked but unattended with the keys inside.

Police believe the driver was intoxicated, and charges are expected to be laid upon the completion of the investigation.
