LETHBRIDGE, AB – 13 organizations across Alberta are receiving grants to aid in youth suicide prevention initiatives.

The provincial government is giving a total of $3 million over the next two years through the Youth Suicide Prevention Grant Program.

Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Mike Ellis says improving youth mental health is a top priority for the government.

“By partnering with community organizations, we are ensuring that youth suicide prevention supports are in place across Alberta. This is essential to help children and youth improve their mental health and prevent suicide,” says Ellis.

Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is one of the 13 successful grant recipients. We have reached out to LFS to learn more about what they plan to use the grant for.

Each of the organizations will receive grants ranging between $100,000 and $300,000.
