Average rent in Lethbridge remains low, rates up year over year

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Average rental prices in Lethbridge remain relatively low, however, they are increasing year over year.

That’s according to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca and Bullpen Research & Consulting. Of the 35 municipalities across Canada listed in the report, Lethbridge came in tied as the 31st most affordable city to rent in for the month of May for a one-bedroom unit.

The average monthly rent in the city for a one-bedroom residence was $1,043. For a two-bedroom, the average rent in Lethbridge last month was $1,210.

Year over year, the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom increased by nine per cent and the average monthly rent rose 14.2 per cent for a two-bedroom.

    • $1,471 average monthly rent in May for a one-bedroom
      • 6.1% month over month, up 20.7% year over year
    • $1,794 average monthly rent in May for a two-bedroom
      • Up 6.0% month over month, up 17.3% year over year
  • Fort McMurray (29)
    • $1,073 average monthly rent in May for a one-bedroom
      • Up 6.7% month over month, up 0.7% year over year
    • $1,316 average monthly rent in May for a two-bedroom
      • Up 6.3% month over month, up 5.0% year over year
  • Edmonton (31)
    • $1,043 average monthly rent in May for a one-bedroom
      • Down 0.7% month over month, up 4.7% year over year
    • $1,309 average monthly rent in May for a two-bedroom
      • Up 0.1% month over month, up 6.4% year over year
  • Lethbridge (tied at 31)
    • $1,043 average monthly rent in May for a one-bedroom
      • Down 3.3% month over month, up 9.0% year over year
    • $1,210 average monthly rent in May for a two-bedroom
      • Up 0.9% month over month, up 14.2% year over year
  • Red Deer (34)
    • $988 average monthly rent in May for a one-bedroom
      • Up 3.7% month over month, up 12.1% year over year
    • $1,147 average monthly rent in May for a two-bedroom
      • Up 5.5% month over month, up 9.0% year over year

The most expensive city to rent in across Canada in May was Vancouver, with a one-bedroom renting on average for $2,377 and a two-bedroom unit renting on average for $3,495.
