Lethbridge Public Library to celebrate Indigenous peoples next week
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Public Library will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Week with a mix of events. Tuesday, June 21 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, but the library will be celebrating for the entire week from June 19 to 25.
On June 20, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Main Branch in downtown Lethbridge, Kainai Elders will lead in signing and drumming traditional stickgame songs for “An Evening of Stickgame”.
Attendees can experience the game of fun and trickery while enjoying fry bread and berry soup. All ages are welcome. The event takes place inside the Theatre Gallery.
On June 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Kids’ Corner at the Main Branch, attendees can enjoy an Indigenous story, tales from special guests and dances.
