Property taxes due in Lethbridge June 30

LETHBRIDGE, AB ­– The City of Lethbridge is reminding property owners that 2022 property taxes are due on June 30, 2022.

Property owners who did not yet receive their 2022 Tax Notice should call 311.

Due to delays at the Alberta Land Title Office, owners may have taken possession of a property but have not yet registered a title. They are asked to contact the City of Lethbridge for a copy of their tax notice but must have a Statement of Adjustments to prove their ownership.

A 7% penalty will be applied to all unpaid 2022 tax balances as of July 1, 2022. Penalties for late payments will still apply even if owners did not receive a Tax Notice.

• Online or telephone banking using the 13-digit roll number in the top right of your tax notice. Please select “Lethbridge (City of) Taxes”;
• Cheque or money order, made payable to the City of Lethbridge, can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 910 – 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 0P6;
  • Property owners are asked to not send cash by mail
  • A secure mailbox is located at the front doors of City Hall, and a drive-through drop box is in the traffic circle behind City Hall
• Directly at your bank and the City will accept the teller stamp date as the date of payment received;
• Cash, cheques, and debit card payments are accepted by cashiers on the main floor at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The City does not accept credit card payments for taxes.

Additionally, parking will be free in front of Lethbridge City Hall from June 27-30, 2022.

The Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP) is a program in which property taxes can be paid over a specified number of months, instead of making one large payment in June. It provides a 1.25% annual discount credit. Property owners who paid their 2022 taxes in full can sign up for TIPP before July 20, 2022 to prepay for their 2023 property taxes. The 0% property tax increase remains intact. However, residents may still see a tax increase on their bills for other reasons, such as a change to their property assessment or a change in taxes collected by the Government of Alberta for the education tax and the Green Acres Foundation budget.
