Plasma donors sought in Lethbridge for Canada Day weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Canadian Blood Services is looking for donors going into the Canada Day weekend.

At the Lethbridge plasma donor centre, there are 99 open appointments to fill over the long weekend, according to a release from the organization on June 30, 2022. Donor centre hours are as follows:

  • Thursday, June 30 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Monday, July 4 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Canadian Blood Services notes that the Lethbridge donor centre is closed on Friday, July 1 and Sunday, July 3, 2022. The organization said, “Cancer patients, accident victims and people with blood disorders rely on blood, platelets, and plasma transfusions every day.”

Plasma that is donated at the Lethbridge facility is used to make medications called plasma protein products. Thousands of people across Canada can utilize these medications to help treat a multitude of rare, life-threatening, chronic and genetic conditions.

The plasma donor centre in Lethbridge is located at 3735 Mayor Magrath Drive South.
