COVID hospitalizations down 30% in Alberta in one month

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest weekly report on COVID-19. The numbers reported in this update reflect data from June 28 to July 4, 2022.

During that time, 1,124 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 160.

7,771 tests were conducted over the last week, meaning the positivity rate was 14.5%.

A total of 33 people tested positive in Lethbridge, or a little under five per day.

Provincially, 568 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 including 21 who have been admitted to intensive care. Compared to the same time last month, the number of Albertans hospitalized has decreased by 30% from 816 on June 8, 2022.

  • Calgary Zone
    • 238,856 cases
    • 224 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 1,306 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone
    • 188,800 cases
    • 175 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 1,770 deaths
  • North Zone
    • 63,567 cases
    • 58 in hospital, three in ICU
    • 551 deaths
  • Central Zone
    • 60,004 cases
    • 82 in hospital, two in ICU
    • 600 deaths
  • South Zone
    • 38,386 cases
    • 29 in hospital, zero in ICU
    • 408 deaths

  • Lethbridge – 13,238 cases (33 new), 110 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 5,019 cases (14 new), 14 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 4,161 cases (12 new), 66 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 4,069 cases (10 new), 30 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 8,133 cases (22 new), 101 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,769 cases (four new), 34 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 2,894 cases (four new), 25 deaths
  • Cardston County – 2,825 cases (two new), 49 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,791 cases (two new), 21 deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 1,352 cases (three new), 15 deaths
  • Cypress County – 1,276 cases, seven deaths
  • County of Warner – 1,222 cases (five new), 12 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 888 cases (three new), nine deaths
  • County of Newell – 698 cases (one new), 10 deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 468 cases, five deaths
