What’s happening around Lethbridge this weekend, July 8, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – There are plenty of events happening in Lethbridge this weekend.

Whether you’re into fast cars, taking in shows, experiencing different cultures or supporting charities, there’s something for everyone.

Kicking off the weekend, Matt Santos is performing at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club. Santos draws inspiration for his comedy from various areas in his life, and he has been recognized as one of the best under-30 comics in Ontario for the Alterna Savings Crack Up the Capital festival. Tickets for his shows starting at 8 p.m. on July 8 and 9 are available on Show Pass.

For anyone in Lethbridge who is a fan of fast cars, be sure to check out the Street Machine Weekend. Starting on Friday, July 8 and featuring events until Sunday, July 10, there are multiple ways to enjoy the spectacle. On Friday night, there will be a night cruise along Mayor Magrath Drive. Lethbridge Exhibition Park will feature the 100-foot dash, and autocross on Saturday. Last but not least, there will be a show and shine at Galt Gardens on Sunday.

If you’d like to take a trip without leaving the city, Latin Fest is for you. Hosted by the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association, this free event will feature live performances, music, food and drinks, beer gardens and children’s entertainment. The festival is taking place on Saturday, July 9, from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Multicultural Centre on 6 Avenue South in Lethbridge.

On Sunday, July 10, Lethbridge Family Services is hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic Fundraiser. It’s happening from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Norland Historic Estate, located at 5801 1 Avenue South. Those looking to attend will need to purchase a ticket for the event, and are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal for donation, and children can bring their own favourite stuffed animal to get a check-up with one of the health partners on-site. Purchases at the event include one blanket per family, a packed lunch from LA Chefs, and bubbles for everyone. Also on site will be children’s entertainment, face-painting, balloon animals and a family basket raffle.
