What’s happening around Lethbridge this week: August 8, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Getting fit, finding a job, or watching a performance on stage, there’s plenty to do around Lethbridge this week.

The Lethbridge Steel women’s tackle football association is hosting Ladies Night Football on Monday, August 8, 2022, on the field behind St. Francis Junior High. Starting at 6:30 p.m. and running till 8:00 p.m., women aged 16+ are invited to learn about football, practice skills, and play some touch football.

On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, Lantic Agriculture is hosting a Harvest Hiring Event at the Heritage Inn & Convention Centre in Taber. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Lantic Agriculture is looking to fill a number of positions in many municipalities across Southern Alberta at its Beet Receiving Stations. According to the Facebook event, successful candidates are eligible for a retention bonus at the end of the season. Anyone who would like to apply but can’t attend is encouraged to send resumes to: harvest@lantic.ca.

The Slice Bar & Grill is hosting a Blues Jam with Keith “Catfish” Woodrow on Tuesday evening. Kicking off at 8:00 p.m. and running until midnight, you’re invited to sign up and sing some songs. There is no cover for the blues jam, just bring your guitar and the Slice will provide a full backline.

Starting on Wednesday, August 10, and running until August 27, 2022, New West Theatre presents: Decades. Join New West Theatre as they take you on a musical adventure from the rock and roll of today all the way back to the classics of the 1950s. The performances are taking place at the Yates Memorial Theatre, and tickets can be purchased on the Enmax Centre website.

Capping off the week and kicking off the weekend, country fans can watch George Canyon at the Empress in Fort Macleod. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022, and will be taking place at the Empress Theatre. Tickets for the show can be purchased on the Empress Theatre’s website.
