LETHBRIDGE, AB – The medals keep flowing in for Team Alberta at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario.

Wrapping up the 14th day of competition on Friday, August 19, 2022, the provincial squad claimed another 14 medals in various competitions.

Lethbridge’s Andreas Troschke won a gold medal in the men’s hammer throw.

Despite ascending to the top of the podium, however, he says he still could have done better.

“I feel good now, after the competition was over, I didn’t feel great because I didn’t throw as far as I wanted to but saying that I still have a medal around my neck which makes me feel a little bit better,” says Troschke. “I’m one of the few people that is lucky enough to have the opportunity to do two Canada Summer Games, this is my second one, so I traded bronze for gold which has been a really good feeling.”

He won bronze at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, held in Winnipeg.

Three others captured gold medals for Alberta on Day 14 – Grace Konrad (Edmonton) in the 400-metre female race, Eric Lutz (Calgary) in the 1,500-metre men, and Justin Rose (Edmonton) in the 400-metre men’s hurdle.

Following the conclusion of the 14th day of events, Albertan athletes have won a total of 87 medals so far, including 29 gold, 25 silver, and 33 bronze.

Alberta is in four place for overall medal count behind Ontario (155), Quebec (115), and B.C. (98).
