LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking for the public’s help in finding a man who used illegitimate currency at a local business.

On Monday, August 15, 2022, police say a male customer made a purchase at a business using counterfeit bills.

It was not until after the customer had left the premises that the employee determined the five $20 bills were fakes.

LPS says the overall print quality was good, but there were several discrepancies between these counterfeit bills and legitimate ones.

“The counterfeit bills did not feature the polymer material or holograms of authentic currency, ‘Canada’ was misspelled and they were marked ‘not legal tender’ and for ‘film production’ only,” reads a media release from LPS.

Anyone with information is asked to call LPS at 403-328-444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and reference file #22017718.
