Southern Alberta communities celebrating Alberta Day
MAGRATH, AB – Several communities in Southern Alberta are gearing up to celebrate the province’s newest holiday.
The first-ever Alberta Day takes place on September 1, 2022, marking the 117th anniversary of the Alberta Act, which formally established Alberta as a province.
Premier Jason Kenney kicked off the 2022 Calgary Stampede with the declaration of Alberta Day, saying it will “celebrate Alberta’s rich cultural heritage and recognize its unique place in Confederation.”
Major celebrations are being held in Calgary and Edmonton, but smaller communities to the south are getting into the festive spirit as well. A full list of municipalities celebrating Alberta Day is on the Alberta Government’s website.
