Cardston RCMP investigating fatal collision

CARDSTON, AB – Cardston RCMP is investigating after it received a report of a fatal collision involving two vehicles in the area of Highway 5 and Range Road 261 around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Cardston RCMP, Carston Fire Services, Blood Tribe Emergency Services, and AHS all attended the scene.

During Cardston RCMP’s initial investigation, it was determined that a car travelling eastbound on Highway 5 near Range Road 261 struck a van, causing the driver of the car to be ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from Viking, Alberta, was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the van, a 47-year-old female, and a 44-year-old female passenger, both residents of Cardston, were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and have since been released.

Cardston RCMP is continuing to investigate the collision and extend its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

RCMP says no updates on this incident are expected.
