LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge are investigating the alleged assault of a teen girl.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says between 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, two 13-year-old girls were walking in the Safeway parking lot in west Lethbridge while on their lunch break. The LPS notes that the teens were approached by an unknown male with a pair of scissors.

Police say the suspect grabbed one of the girls and cut off a large section of her hair. He then reportedly grabbed the second girl and tried to cut her hair, but she was able to break free. The teens ran back to Father Leonard Van Tighem School where they reported the incident to school staff, who then alerted the police.

The suspect is described as a 15 to 18-year-old Caucasian male, with blue eyes who was seen wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, a medical mask covering his face, black pants and Nike shoes.
