LETHBRIDGE, AB – Canadians will gain an extra hour of sleep this weekend.

Daylight Savings Time comes to an end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

In anticipation of the time change, residents are encouraged to set all of their clocks back by one hour before going to sleep on Saturday night.

City of Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services says it is also a good time for people to check their home’s smoke detectors.

They say the expiry date on detectors should be reviewed annually, and regularly replacing the batteries will ensure they are working properly.

If a smoke detector is more than 10 years old, the city says it will need to be replaced.

“Having a working smoke alarm is the best way to protect your family in the case of a fire,” reads a media release from the City of Lethbridge.

More information on smoke alarms can be found on the Canadian Safety Council website.
