Driver in Kootenay National Park caught driving nearly 100 km/h over speed limit

KOOTENAY NATIONAL PARK, AB – Officers have taken a driver off the road who was caught driving more than double the speed limit in a national park.

Columbia Valley RCMP says in a media release that the B.C. Highway Patrol was conducting traffic enforcement in Kootenay National Park along the B.C.-Alberta border on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

An officer reportedly clocked a vehicle travelling at a speed of 168 kilometres per hour in a 70 km/h speed zone.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
