Alberta man charged with importing 53 kg of cocaine into Canada at Coutts
COUTTS, AB – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says it caught a man who was allegedly trying to import millions of dollars worth of drugs into the country.
On Monday, November 21, 2022, the CBSA reports that the driver of a commercial transport vehicle was trying to enter Canada at the Coutts border crossing and was pulled over for a secondary examination.
Officers allegedly found 53 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a shipment of produce. The street value is estimated at $5.3 million.
Calgary Police Service (CPS) Superintendent Sean Boser commended the collaboration between CBSA, CPS, and the Integrated Border Enforcement Team (IBET) in making this arrest.
