The men’s basketball team lost 84-73. Brady Baines and Filip Karanovic were the leading scorers for the Kodiaks, with 13 points each. Charlie Conner led the Trojans with 24 points. The Kodiaks finish the first half of the 2022-2023 season with nine wins and two losses, placing them at the top of the ACAC South Division standings.

Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team lost 69-64 against the Trojans. Kitawna Sparks led Lethbridge College with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Skyler MacDonald scored 21 for SAIT. The Kodiaks have seven wins and four losses going into the winter break. They’re in second place in the ACAC South Division standings.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams return to the court on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in rematches against the Trojans.

The Kodiaks men’s volleyball team secured two wins to close the first half of the regular season. On Friday, December 2, the team beat the visiting Briercrest College 3-1. The Kodiaks followed that up with another 3-1 victory against Briercrest on Saturday, December 3. The men’s volleyball team has eight wins and three losses on the season and currently sit at the top of the ACAC South Division standings.

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team also secured two wins over the weekend. They beat Briercrest College 3-2 on Friday, December 2 and earned a 3-0 victory against Briercrest on Saturday, December 3. The Kodiaks sit in second place of the ACAC South Division with seven wins and four losses.

Both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams return to the court following the holiday break on Saturday, January 7. The teams will host the SAIT Trojans.

In other Kodiaks news, Taryn Bach of the women’s volleyball team and Paycen Blackmore of the men’s basketball team have been named the Kodiaks Athletes of the Month for November.

Taryn Bach is currently third in the ACAC for assists per set, averaging 7.86 on the season. Additionally, Bach was selected as the Kodiaks Athlete of the Week as well as ACAC Player of the Week in November.

Paycen Blackmore is averaging 14.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 55.6% from the field this season. Blackmore received Kodiaks Athlete of the Week honours in November.

UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE PRONGHORNS

Both the U of L men’s and women’s basketball teams were on home court in Lethbridge this weekend.

On Friday, December 2, the men’s basketball team beat the University of Calgary (U of C) Dinos 83-76. Kymani Pollard led the ‘Horns with 24 points, while U of C was led by Noah Wharton, who scored 20 points. The U of L earned a second win against the U of C on Saturday, December 3. They beat the Dinos 73-65. Kymani Pollard was Lethbridge’s leading scorer again, with 16 points. The U of L has four wins and six losses going into the holiday break. This places them in 12^th place in the Canada West standings.

The women’s basketball team suffered two losses against the U of C. On Friday, December 2, the Dinos earned the 69-61 victory, led by Annacy Palmer with 21 points. Jessica Haenni was the leading scoring for the U of L, with 14 points. On Saturday, December 3, the ‘Horns lost 69-76. Louise Rouse was the leading scorer for the Dinos, with 19 points, while Haily Weaver led Lethbridge with 20 points. The Pronghorns have five wins and five losses and sit in 10^th place in the Canada West standings.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams return from their holiday break on Friday, January 6, 2023 in Calgary against Mount Royal University.
